A "K9" is not just some sort of cool abbreviation/different version of "Canine." Its actually a more of a professional term.
For you see K9's are security dogs. Dogs that are here to protect people. Kind of like bouncers or your own bodyguard. Only difference is they are furry, walk on all fours and have a tail. Did I mention their razor sharp teeth? This can depend on the breed but the most commonly used dogs are German Shepherds. Fiesty, aggressive, and can take down anyone.
Essex UK like everywhere can have its crime. Security needs to be tight, for burglaries, armed robbers, you name it. Dog units are swooped in to tackle anything that can be a bit too much for the police etc.
